More tragedy at VT - glad my little brother didn’t end up going there, but so sad for those who have lost their lives.

“So now I am left to ask myself each day, how I am creating life? How am I taking...”
– BWC : Create Life Another great post from BWC. This really speaks to the kind of Christian I want to be, the kind of Christian that Christians should be, but in reality the kind of Christian I don’t see too many of.

I had assumed...
that this whole getting-teary-eyed-at-everything (sad, joyful, whatever) deal would just be lasting through my pregnancy, and maybe a longer, until my hormones regulated. But it seems to be staying. Is it the exhaustion, or am I just an easy cryer now? (Just so you know, I wanted to say “weeper” instead of “cryer” because it reminds me of Jude Law’s character in...

quest for local food
sharkness: I have been on a quest for local food for some time. Living in Charlotte, I had begun to find a nice network. Upon moving to Hilton Head however, not quite so easy…  Although, we’ve only been here for 3 weeks, I guess I should be a little more patient. David and I did find a local seafood market today though. All locally caught fish & shellfish. We bought 1/2 bushel of local...

Year End Meme - Best Concert of 2008
shutupinternet: What was the best concert you got the pleasure of seeing this year? Why was it the best? For me it was The Gaslight Anthem at Asbury Lanes in Asbury Park, NJ, on May 30. I had an interview with them beforehand for Punknews and I got to talk to their lead singer, Brian, for a solid 40 minutes after the interview was over. Their set was incredible too. Ingrid Michaelson with Ben...

shutupinternet: Ah shit, they put the ShamWOW guy in another commercial. Question: In 2008, why haven’t they stuck a smaller mic on the guy, one not from a Britney Spears concert circa 1998. “You’re gonna love my nuts”

We gave Ellie a sheet of nori yesterday.
It was fun for her to rip apart and crumble. It was kind of messy. Also it made her smell like sushi all night. As Jacques said, there are worse things for your baby to smell like.

Heifer International →
My favorite…way to give. The many cousins in my family used to draw names for a gift exchange at Christmas. That way each family only had to buy as many gifts as they had children. One year, instead of a physical present we all gave to a charitable organization of our choice in the name of the cousin we picked. That is how I was introduced to Heifer International. They’ve been around...

Wishlist season. I have always been a fan of the Amazon wishlist, but this year they’ve made it SO much better by adding a feature that lets you include products from other sites.  Love it. Here’s mine:

Dad didn’t have school today. :) Me: :) … Me: (now downstairs) The grass is visible in the front yard. Amanda: The pine trees are barely visible in the front yard. It’s slowing down. It’s snowing here too, but only sticking a...
